Zwin Visitor Centre

The Zwin Visitor Centre in Knokke-Heist is the gateway to the Zwin Nature Park, a cross-border landscape of mudflats, salt marshes, and tides teeming with life. This interactive experience centre introduces you to the dynamics of the Zwin region, a place where nature itself decides who stays and who goes.

In the permanent exhibition Bird Migration, you spread your wings alongside real migratory birds on their journeys to distant destinations. Through stories, digital installations, and landscape models, you experience how the Zwin serves as a stopover in a much larger international ecosystem.

From the rooftop terrace, you can enjoy sweeping views of the unique coastal landscape of the Zwin region. And along walking trails, hides, and the hut trail, you come face to face with the true residents of this nature reserve: waders, swans, geese, storks, and many more species.

What this place tells us about the Geopark

The Zwin is a living landscape, shaped by the sea, wind, and time. For centuries, this area was an open sea inlet and trade route. Today, it is a rare tidal landscape rich in ecological diversity. The Zwin Visitor Centre connects nature, education, and landscape, and lets you experience the delta as birds do: without borders, constantly in motion.
