Gallic Hoeve

Step through the gate of the Gallic Farm, and you literally step into the Iron Age. This archaeological open-air museum, in the heart of Ghent, brings to life the daily world of a rural settlement from the late Iron Age and the early Gallo-Roman period.

Stroll among half-timbered houses, soak up the atmosphere of the past, and discover how people built, cooked, worked, and lived in harmony with the landscape. Experience days, guided tours, and workshops make this place especially tangible.

What this place tells us about the Geopark

The Gallic Farm shows how people have been adapting to the possibilities of the landscape for centuries. In the Iron Age, people built with what the delta area provided: wood, clay, reed, and flint. Here you can see how natural resources, climate, and soil shaped daily life.
